Mob Types
Poisonous Skitterer65kBasic melee, comes in large packs
Carrion Spinner235kPoison arc (3,375 dmg), web pull (yanks player to mob)
Venom Stalker391kCharges random players, AoE poison (5yd)
Dread Creeper195kReduces healing received by 75% for 6 sec
Crypt Reaver586kCleave (3 targets), Enrage at low HP (+50% dmg, +50% speed)
⚠️Poison is critical — mobs charge poisoned players for one-shot damage if not cleansed instantly
  • Small spider group — AoE taunt
Poisonous Skitterers come in packs of 6-8. They have low HP (65k) but hit for 3.2k. AoE taunt and burn them down. Keep poison cleansing totems active.
  • Big spider group — shamans use double Cleansing Totem, non-shaman groups line of sight on pull
Carrion Spinners and Venom Stalkers are the dangerous ones. Carrion Spinners shoot poison in a frontal arc for 3,375 damage and web-pull players toward them. Venom Stalkers charge random players and leave an AoE poison field. Non-shaman groups must LOS the pull behind a wall so the mobs run to the tank without getting free casts off. Shaman groups run double Poison Cleansing Totem to keep the raid clean.
Anub'RekhanAnub'Rekhanboss
Anub'Rekhan
HP: 1,665,500
Starts with 2 Crypt Guards (204k HP each). 1 more spawns each Locust Swarm.
Players: 30+Tanks: 3-4Healers: 6-8Ensure a shaman is in each group — DPS and healing shamans drop Poison Cleansing Totem as priority
Boss Abilities
ImpaleTargets random player, shoots spikes in a line. Up to 3,938 physical damage + knockup fall damage. Hits everyone in the line path (5-10yd wide).
Locust SwarmEvery 70-120 sec. 30yd AoE around boss for 20 sec. 875-1,125 Nature DMG/2s, silences, pacifies. Boss moves 40% slower. Visual cue: boss lifts tail — 2 sec to get out. A new Crypt Guard spawns when cast.
Summon Corpse Scarabs10 scarabs per Crypt Guard death, 5 per player death. 6k HP each, 400 dmg/hit. AoE them immediately — Frost Nova is most effective.
Crypt Guard Abilities
CleaveFrontal, hits up to 3 targets at 110% damage. Face Guards AWAY from melee.
Acid SpitStacking DoT — 250 Nature damage every 2 sec for 10 sec. Cannot be cleansed. Tanks will take increasing damage over time.
WebAoE root on all nearby enemies for 10 seconds. Use Free Action Potions at pull to be immune.
EnrageTriggers at 50% HP. +50% damage, +60% attack speed for 2 min. Use stuns to control.
  • 1 tank on each mob
Crypt Guards have Cleave (110% damage to 3 targets) and Acid Spit — a stacking Nature DoT that CANNOT be cleansed. They Enrage at 50% HP gaining +50% damage and +60% attack speed. Each Guard needs its own dedicated tank. Use stuns liberally during Enrage. When a Guard dies, 10 Corpse Scarabs spawn from its corpse after 10-15 seconds — have AoE ready.
  • Turn them away from the raid
Crypt Guard Cleave hits 3 targets in a frontal cone, and Acid Spit is also frontal. All Guards must face away from the raid at all times — melee DPS stays behind them.
  • Nuke skull
The boss is marked as skull — focus raid DPS on Anub'Rekhan. Crypt Guards are tanked separately. When a Guard dies, 10 Corpse Scarabs spawn from its corpse after 10-15 seconds — AoE them down quickly before resuming DPS on the boss.
  • Casters spread out for Impale
Impale targets a random player and shoots spikes in a LINE dealing up to 3,938 physical damage plus fall damage from the knockup. The line is 5-10 yards wide and hits everyone in its path. Spread out so only 1 person gets hit per Impale. Priests can Levitate to negate fall damage. Mages use Slow Fall on nearby players. Healers must spot-heal Impale targets immediately — the fall damage can kill.
Positioning & Kiting

Tank Anub'Rekhan deep in the room against the closed gate to maximize kiting space. During Locust Swarm, MT kites boss along the outer edge of the room (avoid the poison slime ring — it reduces all stats to 10%). Some guides suggest a Hunter uses Aspect of the Pack for kiting speed — however, Aspect of the Pack dazes anyone who takes damage while it's active, dropping their speed below normal. If the MT gets clipped by even one tick of Locust Swarm with Aspect active, they get dazed and the kite fails. Only use this if the Hunter toggles it on briefly at the start of the kite and OFF before any damage lands. MT must react within 2 seconds of the tail-lift visual cue or the raid wipes. Stop kiting at 12/6 o'clock position.
🕸️Trash to Faerlinatrash
  • Spiders through the doorway — tank pulls the right pack, everyone lines of sight (including tank)
After Anub'Rekhan, spider packs guard the corridor to Faerlina's room. On the doorway pull, the tank picks up the right pack and everyone — including the tank — lines of sight behind the wall. This forces the mobs to run to the group without getting free ranged attacks off.
  • Big spider group — shamans use double Cleansing Totem, non-shaman groups line of sight on pull
Same spider types as Starting Trash — Carrion Spinners (frontal poison arc, web pull) and Venom Stalkers (charge poisoned players). Shaman groups use double Poison Cleansing Totem. Non-shaman groups line of sight the pull behind a wall.
  • Small spider group — AoE taunt
Poisonous Skitterer packs — same as Starting Trash. Low HP (65k), AoE taunt and burn them down.
Grand Widow FaerlinaGrand Widow Faerlinaboss
Grand Widow Faerlina
HP: 6,763,325
Starts with 4 Naxxramas Worshippers (Mind Controllable) and 2 Naxxramas Followers (not Mind Controllable).
Boss Abilities
Poison Bolt Volley3,375-4,125 Nature damage to nearby players, plus 1,900-2,100 Nature DoT every 2 sec for 8 sec. Dispellable (poison). Silenced for 30 sec by Widow's Embrace.
Rain of FireGround-targeted AoE dealing 2,960-3,440 Fire damage every 2 sec for 6 sec. 10-yard radius. Move out immediately when the visual appears.
Frenzy+150% physical damage, +50% attack speed. Activates every 60-80 sec. Cannot be dispelled normally — only removed by Widow's Embrace from a Worshipper.
Worshipper & Follower Abilities
Widow's Embrace (Worshipper)When a Priest Mind Controls a Worshipper and activates this ability: removes Frenzy, silences Nature spells for 30 sec, reduces casting speed by 25%. Kills the Worshipper. Only 4 available per fight.
Fireball (Worshipper)Ranged fire damage. Worshippers cast this while not being Mind Controlled.
Berserker Charge (Follower)Charges a random player, dealing damage and knocking them back.
AoE Silence (Follower)Silences all nearby enemies for 6 seconds. Disruptive to healers and casters — tank Followers away from the raid.
  • All adds should have a tank — two shadow priests stand to the right for Mind Control
Faerlina starts with 4 Worshippers and 2 Followers. Each add needs its own tank. The two shadow priests position to the right and are responsible for Mind Controlling Worshippers when Faerlina Frenzies. Widow's Embrace removes Frenzy, silences her Poison Bolt Volley for 30 seconds, and kills the Worshipper — so there are only 4 dispels available for the entire fight.
  • Kill skull and X, then nuke the boss
Focus skull first, then X. There are two types of adds: Naxxramas Followers have a disruptive AoE Silence and cannot be Mind Controlled, so they need to die. Naxxramas Worshippers must stay alive for the shadow priests to Mind Control throughout the fight. Once skull and X are dead, all DPS switches to Faerlina.
  • Stay out of the Rain of Fire
Rain of Fire is a ground-targeted AoE dealing 2,960-3,440 Fire damage every 2 seconds for 6 seconds (3 ticks). 10-yard radius. Move out immediately when the red visual appears under your feet.
🕸️Trash to Maexxnatrash
Mob Types
Dread Creeper195kVeil of Shadow — reduces healing received by 75% for 6 sec
Crypt Reaver586kCleave (3 targets), Enrage (+50% damage, +37% speed), stacking Virulent Poison DoT
Tomb Horror456kRanged spike throws (can combo for lethal damage at close range), summons Crypt Scarabs
⚠️Harder-hitting trash than earlier packs — Dread Creeper healing reduction and Crypt Reaver Enrage are particularly dangerous
  • Follow the kill order and do the skip — do not drop totems at the archway, go around
This corridor has Dread Creepers (75% healing reduction debuff), Crypt Reavers (Cleave, Enrage, stacking poison DoT), and Tomb Horrors (ranged spike throws that can combo for lethal damage at close range, plus scarab summons). Follow the marked kill order. At the archway, totems placed too close can aggro nearby packs — do not drop them there, move around instead.
MaexxnaMaexxnaboss
Maexxna
HP: 7,600,025
Boss Abilities
Web WrapEvery 40 sec, flings 2 random players to the far wall and wraps them in cocoons (~12,600 HP). Cocooned players take 2,925-3,575 Nature damage every 2 sec until freed. Cannot target the main tank.
Web SprayEvery 40 sec, stuns the entire raid for up to 6 sec and deals 5,225-5,775 Nature damage. Cannot be resisted or broken with trinkets.
Poison ShockFrontal cone dealing 4,550-5,850 Nature damage roughly every 10 sec. Only hits players in front of Maexxna.
Necrotic PoisonApplied via melee. Reduces healing received by 90% for 30 sec. Dispellable (poison). Must be cleansed immediately, especially before Frenzy phase.
Frenzy (30% HP)At 30% HP — permanent for the rest of the fight. +75% physical damage, +50% attack speed. Cannot be removed by any means.
Maexxna Spiderlings8-10 small spiders spawn every 40 sec (~14k HP each). Apply Necrotic Poison. AoE them quickly.
  • 2 healers assigned to cocoons
Every 40 seconds, Maexxna flings 2 random players to the far wall and encases them in Web Wrap cocoons (~12,600 HP). Cocooned players take 2,925-3,575 Nature damage every 2 seconds until freed. The assigned healers watch for wraps and keep cocooned players alive through the DoT until they are freed.
  • 2 ranged DPS assigned to cocoons
When players get wrapped, the assigned ranged DPS immediately switch targets to the cocoons on the wall. The cocoons have approximately 12,600 HP. Break them quickly — cocooned players will die in roughly 7-8 seconds from the Nature DoT if not freed.
  • Prefer warrior tanking — Shield Wall at 30%
At 30% HP, Maexxna enters a permanent Frenzy — +75% physical damage, +50% attack speed for the rest of the fight. A warrior tank can use Shield Wall to survive the increased burst. This is critical because Web Spray stuns the entire raid every 40 seconds, and during the 6-second stun window no one can heal — Frenzy damage during Web Spray can kill the tank.
  • Every 40 seconds, Web Spray happens — tank must be topped up
Web Spray stuns the entire raid for up to 6 seconds. During the stun, nobody can heal. The tank continues taking full melee damage from Maexxna throughout. If the tank is not at full HP when Web Spray hits, they may die before healers can react. Top the tank off before every Web Spray.
  • Get her under 30% after a Web Spray
Frenzy triggers at 30% HP and is permanent. Push her below 30% immediately after a Web Spray so you have the full 40 seconds before the next one to use Shield Wall and other defensive cooldowns. If she Frenzies right before a Web Spray, the tank takes Frenzy damage during a 6-second stun with no healing — this is typically fatal.
Positioning & Kiting
Maexxna positioning diagram

The main tank holds Maexxna against the far wall, facing her away from the raid. Melee damage dealers stand behind Maexxna to avoid the frontal Poison Shock cone. Ranged players and healers spread out in the middle of the room at maximum casting range. The two ranged DPS assigned to cocoon duty position themselves with a clear line of sight to the back wall where Web Wrap targets land. Healers assigned to cocoons stand closer to the wall side so they can reach wrapped players quickly.
