Tank Performance — Molten Core April 5, 2026
Summary
A full breakdown of tank performance across the MC clear — avoidance, Shield Block habits, threat output, kill-phase DPS, saves, and more. Every tank has something to take away from this one.
Who Tanked What
Before diving into numbers, here is the full picture of who was responsible for what.
| Tank | Gear | Role | Boss Assignments |
|---|---|---|---|
| Griselva | T2.5 / T3 | Main Tank | Ragnaros, Sulfuron, Baron Geddon, Incendius |
| Bodacias | T2.5 / T3 | Off-Tank | Golemagg, Magmadar, Lucifron |
| Skittern | T1 | Off-Tank | Garr |
| Termy | T1 | Flex / Adds | Trash packs, adds, and loose mobs all night |
Four different roles, four different workloads. Reading this report with that context in mind matters — the numbers only make sense when you know what each person was actually doing.
Workload — Who Was Actually Getting Hit
Total incoming attack attempts across the full clear. This includes hits, parries, dodges and misses — every swing something took at them.
| Tank | Gear | Total Attempts |
|---|---|---|
| Griselva | T2.5/T3 | ~1,225 |
| Bodacias | T2.5/T3 | ~713 |
| Skittern | T1 | ~696 |
| Termy | T1 | ~591 |
Griselva was under sustained pressure for the majority of the night as the only tank covering four boss fights. Bodacias and Skittern both had meaningful downtime between assignments — time that should translate into DPS contribution. More on that later.
Defensive Play — Avoidance, Shield Block and Emergency CDs
Avoidance
Parries, dodges and misses are mostly passive — a reflection of gear and stats more than in-the-moment decisions. Worth knowing, but not where the interesting story is.
| Tank | Gear | Parries | Dodges | Misses | Avoidance % |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Griselva | T2.5/T3 | 62 | 145 | 68 | 22.4% |
| Bodacias | T2.5/T3 | 26 | 70 | 37 | 18.7% |
| Termy | T1 | 19 | 41 | 21 | 13.7% |
| Skittern | T1 | 21 | 31 | 24 | 10.9% |
Shield Block — The Active Mitigation Story
This is where decisions show up. Shield Block is on a 5-second cooldown and guarantees block chance for 5 seconds — it should be pressed near constantly whenever you are the active tank. It is one of the biggest tools a warrior tank has and it costs nothing.
| Tank | Shield Block Casts | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Termy | 100 | Flex / Adds |
| Griselva | 50 | MT — 4 boss fights |
| Skittern | 11 | MT — Garr |
| Bodacias | 10 | MT — 3 boss fights |
Griselva's 50 casts across four boss encounters is consistent and solid. The gap opens up with Skittern and Bodacias — both were MTing bosses and both used it fewer than a dozen times. Shield Block on cooldown during boss tanking is the clearest improvement available to both of them heading into next week.
Emergency Cooldowns
Shield Wall and Last Stand are your panic buttons. Using them is good awareness — not a sign anything went wrong.
| Tank | Shield Wall | Last Stand |
|---|---|---|
| Termy | 2 | 5 |
| Bodacias | 1 | 3 |
| Skittern | 0 | 1 |
| Griselva | 0 | 1 |
Griselva popping zero Shield Walls across four boss fights is a good sign — the tanking was controlled and healers were never scrambling to keep up. Bodacias showed solid CD awareness with one Shield Wall and three Last Stands across his assignments.
Concussion Blow — Free Stun Uptime
| Tank | CB Stuns | Est. Stun Uptime |
|---|---|---|
| Termy | 95 | ~475 sec |
| Bodacias | 81 | ~405 sec |
| Griselva | 65 | ~325 sec |
| Skittern | 56 | ~280 sec |
All four tanks made strong use of Concussion Blow. Combined that is nearly 25 minutes of mob stun uptime across the clear — a lot of damage the healers never had to deal with.
Threat — Who Was Generating the Most
Raw threat totals favour tanks who tanked longer. Threat per 100 incoming attacks levels the playing field — it shows what each tank generated each time something swung at them, regardless of how long their fights lasted.
| Tank | Gear | Est. Total Threat | Per 100 Attacks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bodacias | T2.5/T3 | ~415,000 | ~71,600 |
| Termy | T1 | ~377,000 | ~73,900 |
| Skittern | T1 | ~310,000 | ~50,000 |
| Griselva | T2.5/T3 | ~373,000 | ~39,300 |
Bodacias topped total threat across the night — a strong result across three boss assignments. Griselva's lower normalized number is entirely expected for an MT; when you are holding a boss for the full duration of a fight, sustained generation matters more than burst windows. Skittern's output reflects a lighter assignment load outside of the Garr encounter.
Kill Phase DPS — Free Damage. Are You Taking It?
When a boss hits sub-20% HP, off-tanks not holding aggro should be in Berserker Stance landing Executes. No risk, no cost — just extra damage that shortens kill times. It is one of the clearest ways an OT can contribute when their tanking job is done for the fight.
| Tank | Gear | Execute Hits | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Griselva | T2.5/T3 | 13 | ✅ Impressive for an MT — grabbed every window available |
| Termy | T1 | 51 | ✅ Active in every kill phase available to him |
| Bodacias | T2.5/T3 | 0 | ⚠️ Had downtime on multiple boss kill phases — all unused |
| Skittern | T1 | 0 | ⚠️ Kill phase windows were available outside of Garr |
Griselva squeezing in 13 Executes while MTing four bosses is a good habit — even as the primary tank he was finding windows. Bodacias and Skittern had more downtime available and did not use it. Next clear: when the boss hits sub-20% and you are not holding it, switch stance and Execute. One keybind, real impact.
AoE — Buttons That Were Not Getting Pressed
As the flex and adds tank, Termy spent a lot of the night in multi-mob situations — exactly where Whirlwind and Cleave shine. The usage numbers did not reflect that.
| Ability | Uses | Available Windows |
|---|---|---|
| Whirlwind | 1 | 78 Berserker Stance entries |
| Cleave | 0 | Every multi-mob pull, all night |
Whirlwind hits every nearby enemy — on a pack of four mobs that is four times the damage and threat in one global. Cleave is even simpler: it just hits two targets every swing. Neither is complicated to add. Get them on the bar, press them on packs, and the AoE output will look very different next run.
Saves — Keeping the Raid Alive
Every tank in this raid was doing more than holding their own target. Taunts, Mocking Blows and total estimated save actions show how often each one stepped in for a non-tank player who had pulled aggro.
| Tank | Gear | Successful Taunts | Mocking Blows | Total Saves (est.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Griselva | T2.5/T3 | 59 | 1 | 126 |
| Termy | T1 | 48 | 16 | 168 |
| Skittern | T1 | 46 | 0 | 102 |
| Bodacias | T2.5/T3 | 44 | 5 | 137 |
Griselva led all tanks in successful taunts with 59 — remarkable for an MT already managing four boss fights. That is constant awareness running in the background on top of the primary tanking job. Four tanks, one raid, 197 combined taunts total. The threat awareness across this team is strong.
Moments Worth Calling Out
- Griselva taunted Shazzrah off Bambow the instant it teleported in — 1,204 crushing blow had already landed but it did not go any further.
- Skittern held the Firesworn pack on Garr together with 46 taunts, keeping them away from the ranged group for the entire fight.
- Bodacias was the most consistent with Mocking Blow all night — pulling adds off casters before they could chain hits.
- Termy used Intercept to chase down a fleeing add before it reached the healers, and taunted Firesworn off Goonman after back-to-back hits landed.
Individual Verdicts
Griselva — Main Tank ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Four boss MTs, ~1,225 total incoming attempts, 22.4% avoidance, led all tanks in taunts with 59, and still found time to grab 13 Executes in kill phases. The fact that Shield Wall was never needed across any of those fights tells you how clean and controlled the tanking was all night. This is what MT play looks like when it is done properly. The clear anchor of the raid.
Bodacias — Off-Tank ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Topped total threat generation for the night across three boss assignments, solid Concussion Blow uptime (81 stuns), and good CD awareness with Shield Wall and Last Stand both seeing use. Two things to clean up: Shield Block needs to be on cooldown every time you are holding a boss — 10 casts across three MT assignments is too low. And Execute at sub-20% when not the active tank — straightforward to add, and with T2.5/T3 gear each one hits hard.
Skittern — Off-Tank ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Held Garr cleanly in T1 gear with 46 taunts keeping Firesworn under control the whole fight — not a trivial task. 56 Concussion Blow stuns show good engagement throughout. Two coaching points mirror Bodacias: Shield Block was pressed 11 times as boss MT — push that number up significantly. And start building the kill-phase Execute habit on fights where you have downtime. It will pay off more and more as the gear improves.
Termy — Flex Tank ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Consistent across every metric you would want to measure — high Shield Block uptime, strong stun coverage, active in kill phases, and a high save count despite never having a fixed boss assignment. The one thing missing from the rotation: Whirlwind and Cleave on add packs. The Berserker Stance windows are already there every pull. Add both to the bar and press them on packs going forward.
TL;DR
| Tank | Gear | Avoidance | Shield Block | Taunts | Executes | CB Stuns | Saves | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Griselva | T2.5/T3 | 22.4% | 50 | 59 | 13 | 65 | 126 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Termy | T1 | 13.7% | 100 | 48 | 51 | 95 | 168 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Bodacias | T2.5/T3 | 18.7% | 10 | 44 | 0 | 81 | 137 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Skittern | T1 | 10.9% | 11 | 46 | 0 | 56 | 102 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
Three Things to Fix Before Next Clear
- Bodacias and Skittern — Shield Block on cooldown. 10 and 11 casts on boss fights is far too low. Every 5 seconds when you are the active tank.
- Bodacias and Skittern — Execute in kill phases. Sub-20%, not the active tank — Berserker Stance and Execute. Make it automatic.
- Termy — Whirlwind and Cleave on add packs. The stance windows are already there. Just press them.
