NAXX Tank Performance Report — 6 April 2026

Summary

Five-tank breakdown for NAXX 6 April 2026 covering warrior, druid, and shaman tank performance, ability usage, cooldown discipline, and the Expose Armor vs. Sunder Armor overwrite problem costing ~340,000 raid damage.

Overview

Five tanks kept the raid alive through Naxxramas: three warrior tanks (Griselva, Bodacias, Howitzers), a feral druid (Tigor), and a shaman tank (Morow). Howitzers rotated to DPS for parts of the night. All five handled a demanding fight roster and came away with solid numbers.

Last Stand41010

Griselva — 790 Sunder Armor applications, most in the raid. Steady taunt coverage (59) and Last Stand used 4 times.

Bodacias — Raid-leading 702 Shield Slams and 617 Heroic Strikes. Three Shield Walls and ten Last Stands — knows exactly when to hit the panic button. Mocking Blow twice for emergency grabs.

Howitzers — Highest Execute (170) and WW/Cleave (200), reflecting DPS role on selected fights. When tanking, strong Shield Block discipline (67) with two Shield Wall uses.

🐾 Feral Druid — Tigor

AbilityCount
Maul563
Swipe98
Growl (Taunt)73
Frenzied Regeneration22
Barkskin4

73 taunts. Frenzied Regeneration 22 times — that is not panic, that is a druid playing every tool in their kit. Barkskin on cooldown where it mattered. Avoidance at 31.3% (dodge 335, miss 79 — no parry, as expected for the spec).

⚡ Shaman Tank — Morow

AbilityCount
Stormstrike260
Earth Shock339
Earthen Bulwark (absorb)192
Earthshaker Slam (taunt)29

Morow runs a custom Turtle WoW shaman tank build most raids have never seen. Earthen Bulwark fired 192 times — a short-duration absorb shield that smooths incoming spikes. Earthshaker Slam (29) kept threat locked down. Earth Shock (339) pulls double duty as both threat/DPS and a spell interrupt. Avoidance topped the entire tank roster at 33.4% (parry 90, dodge 258, miss 119).

🗡️ Expose Armor vs. Sunder Armor — The Overwrite Problem

We brought a Sub Rogue this run with Expose Armor and 2/2 Improved Expose Armor — that is -3,075 armor off the boss, deeper than five stacks of Sunder Armor (-2,600). The raid should be running EA on every boss fight.

The problem: Expose Armor and Sunder Armor share the same debuff slot. Every Sunder cast after EA lands wipes the deeper debuff and replaces it with the weaker one.

Overwrite log across 5 boss fights:

BossEA OverwritesEA Uptime
Patchwerk6~75%
Grobbulus8~70%
Gluth5~80%
Thaddius7~65%
Loatheb~19~25%

Across those five fights, EA was broken for roughly 365 seconds total. With a melee-heavy roster and approximately 930 physical DPS lost per second during broken windows, the raid left around ~340,000 damage on the floor — about half of the lowest DPS player's entire output for the night.

Fix: Once the Sub Rogue lands EA, warriors drop Sunder and shift to Heroic Strike and Shield Slam for threat. One callout in raid chat — "EA up" — is all it takes.

🔇 Interrupts

Out of the entire 33-player raid, only one player registered a successful interrupt: Whora with 5, all landing on Shadow Bolt Volley from Naxxramas Acolytes on trash. Every tank attempted interrupts via Pummel and Shield Bash — zero landed. Morow's 339 Earth Shocks give strong interrupt potential; none connected on boss targets this run. Something to build on.

✅ Verdicts

  • Griselva — Sunder Armor workhorse of the night. Clean taunts, reliable threat, held the line.
  • Bodacias — Best Shield Slam output in the raid. Emergency cooldown usage was excellent — three Shield Walls and ten Last Stands shows sharp survival awareness.
  • Howitzers — Seamless transitions between DPS and tank. High Execute numbers when off-boss, strong active mitigation with 67 Shield Blocks when tanking.
  • Tigor — 22 Frenzied Regenerations is exactly what you want from a druid tank — no tool left unused. Solid 31.3% avoidance throughout.
  • Morow — Highest avoidance in the raid at 33.4%. 192 Earthen Bulwark absorbs kept incoming damage smooth all night. A genuinely unique tank bringing tools the rest of the roster simply cannot replicate.
